Piles also known as Haemorrhoids. Piles are swollen enlarged veins found in and around the anus and lower rectum.
Types of Piles
Piles are classified into two types depending on their level in relation to anus.
- They are classified as internal and external piles.
- Internal piles are further classified into four degrees depending on the symptoms produced.

Depending on the symptoms, Internal haemorrhoids are classified as follows:
- Grade I : Piles do not prolapse, only bleeding from the rectum is there.
- Grade II : Piles prolapse upon defecation, but spontaneously reduce.
- Grade III : Piles prolapse upon defecation, but reduce after manipulation.
- Grade IV : Piles are prolapsed and remain prolapsed.

- Pain or itchy swelling around the anus

- Bleeding during or after bowel movements
- Irritation and pain around the anus

- Chronic Constipation
- Chronic diarrhoea
- Low fiber diet
- Low intake of water
- Lifting heavy weights

- Sitting for long periods of time,in the toilet
- Straining when passing a stool.

Cauterization or agnikarma
